Like to peas in a pod, like two matching bowls on a matching platter, like two right words in the right sentence – that’s how they are, the newlyweds we partied with yesterday, under a canopy of bay leaves.

It was with great fondness that I made this wedding gift for them, as soon as Lia told me that their wedding party will be filled with leaves. So then I found these ginkgo biloba leaves in the park, they were the chosen ones. Along with these two lines from Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, Act II, scene 2, in Romanian translation (which sounds nothing like the English original, but it is lovely nonetheless).

Îngăduie-mi alăturea de tine
Să mă întind, pe ierburi și verbine.

(Romanian text printed on the ceramic platter)

I mean, that my heart unto yours is knit
So that but one heart we can make of it;
Two bosoms interchained with an oath;
So then two bosoms and a single troth.
Then by your side no bed-room me deny;
For lying so, Hermia, I do not lie.

Have a long life of love, dear Lia and Andrei!

  1. Bun,

    bucurindu-mi privirea cu a mainilor tale lucrare

    am o intrebare mai tehnica
    de unde iti iei materialele. Sunt un necunoscator interesat.

  2. Comment author Anca,

    Bun găsit!
    Toate materialele pe care le folosesc (lut, angobă, pigmenți, glazuri) le cumpăr de la firma Interceram, din Sighișoara.
